“Do not Fear”

Noise surrounds me as I try to quietly wait for Christ’s appearance as Emmanuel this Advent. You know, dear LORD, that this year has been strange, fear-inducing at times, yet Your Word still echoes the same truth as it did thousands of years ago….

“Do not fear,”

You spoke those words to Patriarchs and Prophets in times similar to mine–fractured societies where truth was ignored; a world torn asunder by disease, fear, anger and pride.

“Do not fear,”

Your archangel Gabriel proclaimed to our Blessed Mother, Mary, and she fell down in adoration as the impossible became possible.

“Do not fear,”

Your angel said to Joseph in his dismay and doubt over a desire shattered.

“Do not fear,”

Your angel spoke to a band of shepherds who had little to look forward to or place their hope in. A host of angels joining, declaring peace to the world!

The words of Your angels of the LORD whisper to me and my listening heart sings! The Word you spoke then is still the same because you are God with me, now as your were then. These strange times hold even stranger things. Yet, You still prove over and over that Your will prevails, no matter how strange MY times seem to be to me.

“O Come, O come, Emmanuel;” I pray this morning. May your Word bring peace on earth. Yes, I hear your Word wafting forward in time to me, right here, right now.

“Do not fear…come now, let us set things right…You are my beloved child, I have created you for me…This is the way, walk in it…”

I unite myself to Our Lady’s Magnificat:

My soul magnifies the LORD and my Spirt rejoices in God my Savior for He has regard the low estate of His handmaiden…He who is mighty has done great things, holy is His name. His mercy is on those who fear Him from generation to generation…”

Become what you behold, Lois.

Greetings, friend. "In silence and rest is your salvation" are words from the prophet Isaiah that echo the desire of my life. I've been following that desire my entire life as I seek to live and move and have my being in what the LORD desires for me. I'm still learning the beauty of silence and rest as my salvation, it's a long obedience in the right direction. This is my journey.
